JOB#4241401: Assistant Cataloger/Technical Services Librarian (FT)

 

The duties of this full time position (35 hours per week) primarily include the cataloging and classification of a wide range of library materials and providing adult reference services to the public as needed.  This position includes some night and weekend (Saturday) hours.  Also included are paid holidays, generous allowances for personal and vacation time, excellent health and retirement benefits and the option of employee-paid eye and dental benefits.  Salary range for this position is $40K to $45K contingent upon education and experience.  


 

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Master of Library Science/Information Science degree (preferably from an ALA accredited institution) and a minimum of one year cataloging experience,

  • Experience working with integrated library software systems, preferably Innovative Interfaces Inc.’s Millennium

  • Knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification, LCHS, AACRS, OCLC, MARC and RDA Formats

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Good customer service skills

  • Reference Services experience preferred

  • Second Language, preferably Spanish, a plus

The duties of this full-time position (35 hours per week) reference service to the community by filling requests for information, offering readers’ advisory suggestions, providing bibliographic instruction, and general assistance in the use of library materials, computer equipment and network resources.  This position includes some night and weekend (Saturday) hours.   Also included are paid holidays, generous allowances for personal and vacation time, excellent health and retirement benefits and the option of employee-paid eye and dental benefits.  Salary range for this position is $35K to $40K contingent upon education and experience.  

The Ideal Candidate should possess:

  • Master of Library Science/Information Science Degree (preferably from an ALA accredited institution) or a B.S./B.A. from a four-year accredited college/university and library coursework or experience

  • Experience in customer service/working with a diverse population

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Knowledge of both traditional and electronic reference and user services, including but not limited to online reference services, electronic databases, and integrated library software systems, especially Innovative Interfaces Inc.’s Millennium

  • Second Language, preferably Spanish, is a plus

This position is approximately 16 to 20 hours per week.  Circulation-related duties include checking in and checking out materials, issuing library cards, and shelving materials when necessary.  This position includes some night and weekend (Saturday) hours.  

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Customer Service experience and the ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of library users and staff

  • Experience working in libraries and with integrated library software systems

  • Second Language, preferably Spanish, a plus
